STAGGERED WHEELS?
Meh, it's never tacky, it's just not worth it.
Search today's or yesterday's posts for my thread "WHEEL PICS" or something... I have different lips, but 17x8.5 all around -- look staggered though.
The only SCARY thing about staggering, is when you use BIGGER wheels in the rear... like 17's up front, 18's in the rear. Overall diameter differences will destroy your quattro

on alot of domestic cars u can reprogram for a larger tire in teh back ad different gear ratios on teh hypertech tuner. I did this on my old cra and put some 4.10 gears in it.
yeah but all that does is corrects the speedo... no hypertech is gonna stop your center diff to explode, from CONSANT use... quattro makes all wheels spin at the same speed... if they arent spinning at the same speed, power is transfered to the wheels spinning faster...
so, if you had a smaller front wheel, they'd ALWAYS be spinning faster, and quattro would ALWAYS be trying to send power up there. I imagine the diff would overheat, and seize.

you asking me about my 17x8.5's? ... if so, I have 235/45/17's... HOWEVER, I don't have them on the car yet... the tires are mounted on the wheels, but are brand spanking new. I don't want to install them until I put my coilovers on, and get an alignment. I hope to god they fit without rubbing! I had 225/45/17's on the wheels when I first bought them -- and they fit pretty well, with no rubbing... I rode them for over a week (and did the photo shoot with them on).
the 235's are obviously wider, and about .4 of an inch taller, in overall diameter... so yes, again, hoping they will clear everything, or I just blew a lot of $ on tires.
