I have an 1998 R reg Audi A4 (Automatic) and ever since i purchased my car i have had problems starting. While trying to start the car it would fire but not stay started it seems like fuel starvation but once ive turned the engine once or twice it does fire and it stays on. The car has no missing or bad idling. Even during the day when it is stood when i try to start it does the same.

thankyou for your reply but i forget to mention that i am in england, could you recommend any places there.

 

don't go to the dealer it will cost £40 + vat just to check it then extra for what they find, go to any other garage there are plenty who have diagnostic tools for that job

 

Check the vag locator (check the helpful information area) for someone in your area who could pull the codes. Price is usually beer.
