I hava 99 a4 1.8T Quattro, The engine would not start today, it cranks quite a bit, it failed to start. I was talking to the mechanic he doesnt think it is a battery problem as it is cranking. what could be wrong? any help much appreciated. Thanks

Coil?
Gas?
Fuel pump?
Timing belt? Any noises?

 

Did you notice anything before it wouldn't start? Did it run rough, bounce at idle, hesitate on acceleration? Did the mechanic check it for codes?

 

it was an issue with battery, battery died, replace battery, it is running fine.
