Default Stealth iPod Integration

I spent about an hour this evening running my iPod cable from the center console to the CD changer in the trunk. When I finished the job I plugged in my iPod and turned it on nothing happened. I went to the trunk to check the connection and the plastic box that's part of the system was glowing red and smoking. Long story short, its friend and I don't know what to do. It was a Peripheral adapter so if anyone has experience with these please help me out. Can I buy just the white plastic box or what?

first off, does the Ipod and Car Stereo still work? What's the year of the car and model of head unit?

The iPod and stereo both work still. The car is a 2000 and I have the Bose system.

Yes, you'll probably need to buy another interface module. But before you do check to see if the HU is a Symphony, according to the allplication guide if it is you'll need two other adapters (PXHAD2 and PXHVW2) and will need to connect it at the radio, not in the trunk. And before you hook it up again, check the dip switches.

I think it is a symphony but I took the HU out twice and there was nowhere to plug anything in. Also, about the dip switches, I wasn't sure what positions they should be in because I bought the adapter from someone on this site. But if I buy a new interface module can I use the same wire because I already ran it through the car?

With the right harnesses you will be able to plug it into the back of the Head Unit once you unplug the changer cable input. It's possible you don't have the right adapters (and even more possible that the switches aren't set right). In either case I've never seen one burn.

Dip switch 1 & 8 should be on, all others off. Use one or both of the harnesses I mentioned earlier and connect at the radio.

Don't use the one that fried!!
