Default Steering Gearbox

Howdy,
I got a 98.5 A4 1.8TQM. I used the seach feature of your site, but couldn't find the answer to my specific question. I noticed a noise from my power steering so I went out and got some Pestoine 11s as recommended. All was well for a day than the fluid went low again. The pump itself is okay because I can see the fluid move when it gets low. Also, none of the lines leak. I than checked the boot on the tierod and it was leaking into the boot. My question is can I replace the seal in the steering gearbox? If so does the entire box need to come out or can I do it by just removing the tierod? I don't know if it matters, but this is on the drivers side.

Thanks,
Franco

The racks are rebuildiable but as far as parts and procedure i wouldnt know. I would contact the rack manufacturer and try and get some more info. Y0ou may have to look at the rack to see who makes it as there are a couple differeent manufacturers on some vehicles. On the a4's i believe the rack manufactuere with the most failures is karco or something like that.
