Default Steering Problem

So I posted this a while back and got no answers. Unforutnately the problem got worst. It used to be when I only turned right that my steering would make a noise. Now when I turn it boths ways it makes the sound and it is alsoa lot louder. I can't figure out what it is. It is a loud creaking sound that kinda sounds like pieces are rubbing together. Could it just need some lube some where? Or do I have to replace anything? Is it a control arm or something with the steering? I need to get this fixed asap. It sounds like something might snap or break soon. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

How hard are they to replace? Is there anything else you think it could be?

Did you steering creak when you turned it both ways?

does it get hard to turn the wheel as it makes that sound, if so you could be running low on power steering fluid.

It is kind of harder to steer it. How do I flush the old power steering to refill it with some good new stuff?

you don't need to flush out the old stuff, go to the audi dealership or a euro shop and buy the audi powersteering fluid. DO NOT BUY a generic brand, audi power steering fluid is different and the other fluids will destroy the power steering pump. once you buy it, just put some in and you should be good to go.

Use this DIY (http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel29.shtml) to figure out the location of the TRE's and then check the rubber boot on the top of them to see if they are broken loose at all. if you find that they are broken, spray some WD40 in there and if the noise stops that was your problem. I had noticed that mine was cracked a while before they started makeing this god awful sound when I turned the steering wheel - you can also have someone stand out in front of your car and listen while you turn the wheel
