i just recently purchaced an 1998 A4 quattro 2.8 with several minor problems. One of these problems is a leaky steering rack. I bought a used rack for 120$ out of a junk yard, me and my father (the mechanic) are preparing to do it ourselves. My question is how much of a job replacing the rack for a mechanic would be?

 

Its kinda a pain but very doable. They just put the lines and stuff in some really tight spots. Also its kinda a pain to wiggle that sucker in and out.
