Stereo options and xenon???
So im still on my hunt for an 03-04 A4. I have a couple questions about the stereo options though. Some list Bose premium and some list 6 disk changer and some just say standard sound. If you have the cd changer do you automatically get the bose system? Is the bose system stock? Also I see some listing show that the car has xenon lights. Is that standard on the 03-04 A4 or an option as well?
Thanks!
Thanks!
if it were me, id compare the HID option to an aftermarket plug and play kit, if its the same price, then get the OEM stuff, it will be all done for you when u go to get the car. if you end up finding a good kit for less than the cost of the toption, go buy that kit and just drop it in. itll take you like under an hour if youre pretty good with your hands. as far as the sound? well, they haev a bunch of options. ive got the bose premium w/6 disc indash changer. i dont like it at all. im in the progress of putting in all aftermarket stuff in the car. im keeping a lot of the pieces i had in my previous car and upgrading it some. im a huge audiophile, so stock anything is never good enough for me. if you dont really give a hoot then go with the best one u can afford and let it be
NO, some cars have indash 6cd others have external cd changers, xenons arent standard and neither is bose, you will get an swesome stereo system with the car i dont have bose and its really nice. I dont have HIDS and my lights are better then then most cars. so if you dont get it dont worry its still good. Its weasy enought to upgrade to HIDs its 200 bucks. So look for Bose and you should be all set.
ironman said it all. I'm also a big audiophile, like votblindub, however, I'm satisfied with the stock Symphony II in my '04. It is very nice. I've put $$$$$ stereos in my past cars and usually regretted it later. Now I have an AMAZING audiophile setup at HOME, and I'm fine with a "not-so-audiophile-yet-totally-kickass" stereo in the Audi. I spent my $3k car stereo budget on a pair of B&W speakers that MORE than make up for anything lacking in my car.
I might feel differently about upgrading if I were commuting 2+ hours a day...
That being said, I've listened to a couple of mind-blowing systems in A4's at stereo shows that almost gave me permanent goosebumps, and actually rivaled my home stereo system!! One of the sedans had the entire trunk filled with amps, subs, and a couple of deep-cycle batteries, and the cabin was totally reinforced to prevent vibration/ annoying interior noises caused by extreme cabin pressures. With the moonroof fully opened, the air blowing out was like a pulsing fan, literally blowing air out of the cabin. Sick...sick...sick... the cost of that stereo was like $25k (a shop owner's car).
Yes, I love me some high-end audio.
