Default stereo question

i want an OE headunit with a single cd player, rather than having this junk cd changer in the trunk...does anyone know if this is possible? i have the bose package, if that makes a difference...this is on a 96 MY...

I'd doubt it's possible, to use an OE in dash CD player I mean...

obviously, if you go aftermarket... then the world is your oyster.

yea but i've got bose, so i'm not sure i can even go aftermarket...plus i don't want to kill the clean look of the dash....but i'm seriously getting sick of this trunk changer....damn this! i guess i could consider relocating the stock changer to inside the glove box, but that's probably CRAZY work....

what is the problem with the trunk changer?
just location?
y not get an extra mag to make the change easier
u can still get the mags for the cd changer

from what i heard to go aftermarket the sub woofer would not work
it would need a seperate amp.

i don't understand that last part, beefski...but it sounds important because i do have a sub that i'll be installing pretty soon...yes, the problem with the trunk changer is the location...i'm very impulsive, and when i want to hear a cd, jumping out of the car at a stop light to swap CDs or even mags just doesn't cut it...

isnt the sub like a fifth chanel?
a regular head unit powers the four speakers

the audi head unit includes a fifth chanel to power the sub.
i had an aftermarket head unit in when purch and the sub did not work.
it was a sony single cd. speakers worked but no sub.

i am in the market for the stock head unit. also the butchered the wiring harness to get the aftermarket
unit to work. i also need the wiring harness.

i'm gonna go pull my HU right now and see if there's a fifth channel back there...i was planning on tapping into the rear speaker wires, but i have never done that before so i'm unsure if i can...

Default RE: stereo question

what system is in there now?
the diagram on the back has connectors specifically for the sub if i remember correctly.

there is about 30 indv connectors in about 4 or 5 plugs.

the audio place i wet to said audis are hard to re wire for afetermarket stuff.

i like the stock so the changer ctrls are on the head unit.

u can use aftermarket head unit but u need a seperate amp for the sub and hard wire the changer with a seperate control

well i'm getting an amp for the sub anyway, so i don't have to worry about that...i'm tapping into the rear speaker lines for the sub, but i don't even know how to do that...i'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to audio equipment, so i'm somewhat lost with all this...

i have the stock bose system with the delta headunit
