You can def go aftermarket with bose. I just did and there is a harness for it, thanks to initialdtm for the right info. It even improved the overall sound even though it is still using the bose amp. i am much happier, and if you sand and paint the trim piece to match, it doesn't stick out the bad, plus you get amp preouts.
