Stereo upgrade
I'm a fan of cd changers, but not when you have to get out of the car to change the cds in it(in-dash or glovebox=fine; trunk=slightly irksome). My question is, what's involved in replacing a stock 'Concert' stereo in a 99.5 a4 with the 'Symphony' one? I see that it demands a different heater and ashtray(to make room), but electrically, will the 'symphony' even plug into the stock wiring harness from a car that originally had a 'concert'?
Have you ever thought of buying an mp3 player for the car?
There are simple ipoo'd write ups, or you can do what I just did. Get an mp3 player and one of those tape/cassette adapters for the car. Sounds great and is simple. If you are going to replace the stereo, just buy an aftermarket one because the symphony isn't the greatest stereo...

Yeah, i'd like to hook up an MP3(my iPod) as well, what do you(y'all) reccomend? (I was thinking a blitz...is this good?) How hard is it to swap in the Concert II(with a single indash cd) deck?
some concert radios have a portin the trunk for the cdc. you can reroute the port to the glove box. as for the mp3, get one of those cassette player adapters and run it into the glovebox too. or you can wire the mp3 to the armrest. going from concert to symphony takes way too much effort and money.
