Default Sticky Tach (Newbie) Please help

So I just bought my first Audi on Saturday (A4 1.8T 74K). Since Saturday for some reason, the Tach sticks at around 1600 everytime in first and third and sometimes in second. As I approach 1600, the car keeps going but the Tach sticks for a second then shoots to 2000. When it gets to 1600 there's a slight rumble like its trying to change gears but it can't find it. I've been using the Autostick and keeping the revs above 1600 to circumvent the problem until I can find a mechanic to take a look at it. Does anyone know what this could be?

I don't have any ideas, but if you can get it to Autozone, or another store like that, and they can check your car for codes, then if you post them up here, maybe someone who is smarter than me can help you out.
