MUHAHA!!! I am so smart!

He probably checked the accessory power fuse which could also have cut the power to the radio, as well as the hvac unit, etc

i was able to get the factory concert radio out just using a pair of heavy duty zip-ties pushed down into the key slots. now if the dealer had just put my code in the manual! [sm=headbang.gif]

You need the keys to get it out, and no dice on the RCA question.

do you have to remove your trim (wood, etc) to get to the spots where you put the keys in?

no, there's a couple barely visible holes on either side of the unit, just slide the keys (or zip ties) in them and the unti should pull out. i was in the same situation as you when i got my car. the used car dealer i bought it from replaced the fuse in the fuse box but it still didnt work. luckily i work next to a custom car shop and down the street from an audi dealer. i let the car shop take a look at it and they replaced the fuse in the back kof the radio(didnt need to take the unit out). so now it turned on, but it was in safe mode. but it was far from over. with my luck my car didnt come with the original owners manual, so we swiped one from one of the other audis, so the radio code wasnt the right one. took it to the audi dealer and they had to pull the radio out to get the big 17 digit serial number on the side of the unit and match that with the car's VIN number. i got the code, but the tech at the Audi dealer couldnt get it working(you'd think he'd know better) took it back to the car shop next to my work and left it in there possession with the key in the ignition for an hour. came back, entered the code, and it was good to go. all this took about 5 days, but i didnt have to pay a dime.

oh yea, if you pressed any buttons or tampered with the radio at all u have to let the car sit with the keys in the on position for an hour before you can enter your code again. if you press any buttons before that hour is up, then it resets and u have to let it sit for another hour.
