Default The stock turbo's average lifespan?

I'm trying to decide between the 1.8 and the 2.8 for a used car...and I'm wondering what the average lifespan of the stock turbo is. How many miles will it last for? Assume it's an average driver, not a wreckless/sporty driver.

Much appreciated.

In theory it should last as long as the engine.

There is no factual answer to that question. You cant say "The turbo will blow at 104,397 miles exactly. There isn't even an exact range...it all depends on the car, driver, and how it was kept. So many factors influence the life of the turbo.

And even if it does blow, its SO cheap to replace. You can buy em for what like ~$200? Give or take. Also, you can buy slightly used for WAY less. Not an expensive replacement if youre worried about an old turbo.

Seriously?? I was expecting it to cost a grand or so.

Where do you buy these $200 turbos?
