I do a ton of highway driving in my A4 Avant Quattro. Because of this, my hood is polka dotted with stone chips. I am going to have the hood and front bumper repainted this fall. Afterward, I would like to put on that thick, clear rubber like material on the front of the hood and front bumper to protect it in the future. Ziebart had something like this, but does anyone know of anything currently available out there? Thanks.

 

There are two products out there now.
3M Clear-Bra.
StoneGuard.

Both can be installed (and are often installed) by trained window tint specialists. Shop around - most of the better tinters can do it.

 

Thanks Imolas4. Do you have any idea what this runs? Ziebart said they'd have to custom cut it and it would be around $800.00. That sounded ridiculous to me.

I've heard prices in the $300 - $350 range.

BTW: I found a third product: X-PEL.
