Lately i've been hearing a strange grinding noise from my front brakes when I apply them...but it's only when it is cold outside and only the first few times I apply the brakes during my drive. After a few minutes everything sounds and feels fine.

Does that happen to anyone? I'm hoping it's either the cold and/or moisture.

Brake discs rust overnight. If you are in a damp climate or there is a lot of dew, the discs will form a small bit of rust which will scrape off the first few times you apply the brakes.

 

Does it look like you still have plenty of pad on there?I can see on my car, may depend on your wheels.

 

Yeah...pads are about 9 months old...rotors too. The rusted rotors makes a lot of sense though, because it has been very wet (snow, rain, etc.) lately, which is when i've really noticed it.

 

I would check your pads....I had the same sound with my rear breaks and I let it go for a while...... the rotors were messed up and it was about a 600+ dollar job........ get your brakes checked....
