stupid tire/wheel question

i got stock 15s with 195/45/15 and i want to get 17s..what kind of tire size should i get that wont mess wiht the speed of the car or anything? and what width of rim?

probably getting a set from tirerack.com

Do you mean 195/65? I don't believe that those tires are 45's and if they were that would mean your overall diameter is much shorter than my 205/55/16's. But if you were to go with 17's 205/50/17 should work. But you should search the forums, I'm sure this has been asked several times.

thats what i meant 195 65 15

and i tried the searching..no one has 195 everyone has 205 or 225 or something..

205 was the stock size for me. But I do see in the manual where it says 195/65 for you. You have the same dimensions in the wheel well as any other B5 A4 so if someone else is running 205 stock you can run the same thing...if you have the right wheel. Do a google search for a tire size calculator to see what you can run. The important thing to look at is the overall diameter. I think it should be right at 25" to keep the speedometer right.
