Default swapping motors....

i was wondering is it possible to swap the motor2.0T into the 98-00 audi a4 1.8Tquattros?. if so will it drop right in with the 1.8T motor mounts?. would everything be totally different from the 1.8T to 2.0T?. also how much would this cost for motor and labor?.

why would you even consider doing this? the 2.0T isn't that much more powerful than the 1.8T, and it has a much weaker aftermarket following.

as for the swap itself, I would imagine the entire wiring harness would have to be exchanged, as well as the ECU and all peripheral items like the alternator, power steering pump, etc.

bottom line is, this probably isn't worth the hassle. if you really want a 2.0T, build a stroker motor like baconbait is doing.

yeah get some domed pistons or a new head or something. this isn't a 79 camaro. you can't justexchange engines in new cars. its a little more complicated than that.

How much does something like that normally run? To be able to stroke out a motor to 2L and then all the mods?

if you stoke and bore the moter your gonna need a custom tune for it. But you can probably get a stroker kit for like 1500 to 2k

shoot baconbait a PM. he's in the process of doing it, he just got his standalone engine management from 034 not too long ago. check out a thread called "New Toy" or something.

yeah get some domed pistons or a new head or something. this isn't a 79 camaro.
Domed topped pistons ARE what you would put in a 79 Camaro. You would run domed topped pistons for high compression and large amounts of nitrous in a v8.

If you were to swap the motors for a 2.0t you would still need to upgrade the internals to handle any more boost, the 2.0t runs 10.5 to 1 comp. Either buy a stroker kit or build up the AEB motor with an ABA crank (pre 1992) for the cheapo stroker kit. You could also slap a AEB head onto an ABA block but no matter what you would still need an engine managment system.
