So when I took my car in to get a hose replaced I asked the technician to see if he could diagnose a sweet smell that seems to appear after driving...from what I can tell this doesn't get transmitted through to the cabin. But when the car is parked and you walk in front of it you can clearly smell something...it's not leaking coolant, and I am not even sure if g12 smells the same as the more popular coolant...the coolant levels don't drop, or if they are, are doing so extremely, and I mean extremely slowly. Opening the hood produces no smoke, or vapor, although the smell seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine. The technician said he didn't see a problem...but I know all to well about the damage that can be done from gaskets that have gone bad...

Is there anything else that can cause the sweet smell?

I am having the same problem with a recent purchase I made. The papaers say it was repaired for a leaky radiator hose, but the smell has not gone away!

 

sweet is normally coolant, man. Canlt think of anything else unless you lost your margarita mix in the engine bay.
