Would it be possible to take out the ashtray in a 1999 a4 1.8t and put in something like an eclipse system dvd player/gps? I have a lot of gadgets in my car and was wondering if it would just be easier to do that.. and i know for sure i would want to get rid of my audi front panel because it just looks damn good. Also has anyone else seen the rieger body kit for the 99 a4 that gives it that rs4 look... or better yet does anyone have it.. i want to buy it.. i just want to make sure its not a crap product.. I am not new to audis.. just to these particular forums..

Hi phroztbyt, welcome to the forums. Yeah the Rieger products are pretty good. Thier RS4 bumper is pretty popular. If you want to put a dvd player in the spot of the ashtray it'll probably have to be pretty custom.

 

Maybe I'm missing something here...but I just don't get it. Why would you put a DVD player in your car? What are you guys watchin movies instead of the road? Only reason I can see putting a DVD in your ride is if you have a family and want something to keep the kids occupied during trips to grandma's house. But then wouldn't you want the headrest screens?

Only other thing I can think of is..maybe if you like doing questionable things in the back seat of your ride while watching questionable material...but even then..headrest LCD is where it's at.

ya thats what i thought too until i went on a slight roadtrip in a car with a dvd/gps unit, it was pretty sweet. watched south park the whole way, and the gps told us right where to go, which is good because im lazy and will usually just drive till i find what im looking for rather than use a map. but granted i wasn't driving so it was a bit more enjoyable for me. my ashtray area doesn't have much room im not sure a screen would even fit down there. 2001 a4 avant

just as greenday said.. i need it for the gps especially.. i drive a lot.. and i have to constantly drive for long distances... also thanks for the reply about the rieger unit... thats exactly what i needed to boost my spirit about it.... also now that im thinking about it... whats a rim that would look good on a black 99 a4?

 

wheels are all personal preference, don't let people tell you what looks good, get what you think looks good; you might want to value what everyone thinks looks bad however. as long as it fits under the car well and you like it it should be good. usually a gunmetal silver looks good on a black car, a black wheel with a polished lip looks good i would think; thats just me.
