Default Takes money to make power

Well I was just making a list of everything for my build and adding up the cost. Its a heavyprice thats why its going to take a year or more to build but I think that it will be worth it in the end. Here is a list that I list that I have put together so far. Let me know what you guys think. I already have the short block with carillo rods and maule pistons. These are rough prices

ecu programing(probably uni) $800
Ported/polished head $1500
eurospec or cat3651s cams $700
Springs/retainers $500
siemens 630cc injectors $250
Gt3071 turbo $1300
tial 38mm wg$230
tubular ex mani(t3 flange) $1300
Downpipe $250
Clutch 2+(spec rs4 setup) $1250 not sure on this one yet and if its worth it
IC piping I may need for new setup $200
New intake $300
Intake mani $800
RS4 motor mounts $300

Damage $9680
Short block $3500
$13180

I am assembling all of this once piece at a time at work. Now I kind of want to put together just what I needed to support the turbo and save the head work and stuff for later. I want to do this so I can see and feel the difference as I slowly add stuff.

Looks like a good list but no IC listed just pipes so add $1000.

Also what is damage referring too?

Sure but I seen the $13,180 and assumed that would be the total Damage.

are you tryin to run a 9 second quarter mile.... you can run 12's with that "damage" cut in half... a 9 second audi is not very practical. A lot of that stuff is more "v-8 tuning" than 1.8 euro tuning. If you got large goals than shoot for the stars. It would be sweet if you could pull it all together but it might be a little un necessary. let us know how it all turns out

what kind of power are you looking at throwing down, cause if you get to high your gonna have to look at stronger axels, trany parts, diffs, and what not

couple things need changed

ORIGINAL: theguy1084

Ported/polished head $1500 - gasket matched will be enough. I would keep the $$
eurospec or cat3651s cams $700 - make sure you get tuning for these or its wasted power
Springs/retainers $500 - Might want to add exhaust valves also
siemens 630cc injectors $250
Gt3071 turbo $1300 - a gt3076r spools the same and has a greater power potential (have seen 500fwhp on pump)
tial 38mm wg$230
tubular ex mani(t3 flange) $1300 - really should go cast for a street car.
Downpipe $250 - guessing custom?
Clutch 2+(spec rs4 setup) $1250 not sure on this one yet and if its worth it
IC piping I may need for new setup $200 - you need 2.5" piping and larger core if you dont have them already
New intake $300 - get one from here cheaper and nicer
Intake mani $800 - wait a little for the 007 manifold form qedpower.com
RS4 motor mounts $300

Damage $9680
Short block $3500
$13180

There is no way I would run 9s with that set up. My goal is around 400whp and solid mid to low 12s. as far as the intake mani what I have priced out is the one from qed. I also got the shortblock from qed. Insted of port and polish I was thinking about going with large port heads. The reason I want new springs and retainers is because I want to turn High rpms to use the turbo for what is it worth. The turbo is not set in stone I just picked the 3071 because most people say that it spolls quicker thana gt30. Than again most people dont have a 3071 let alone ever riden in a car with one. Where would a find ancast exhaust mani to support a t3 flange. I know cast is more reliable and about $800 cheaper but I am just trying to find the
$ vs HP balance also. I talked with unitronic and told them my goals. They told me when I am ready let them know and they will have the software I need. Besides injectors what else would you think that I would need forfuel supply?? I am open to anything at this point. I am still in the research stage of this build. To reach these #s some of the things may be overkill like the tubular manifold and intake manifold. I just want to do it right even if it takes longer to save that extra $1 but I also dont want stuff that I dont need at this point. QED told me I would need at least a large port head cams 3076 to get there sooooo....let me know
