Default The TAP CHIP

Now after doing alot of browsing, I have seen that neither the Giac nor APR is worth it for the 2.8 30V.
I recently found out that TAP is claiming a 18 HP increase for the 2.8. Its kind of hard to believe but it does cost close to $500.
In my opinion thats a DEAL for us 2.8 er'z. But is it reliable? Can TAP really give that much output?

not too sure but I doubt it. If it did i'm sure a lot of 2.8ers would be ranting about them. can you link us to this TAP chip?

Yeah, I've heard of TAP before, but only from a few people a long time ago. Not enough to really form an opinion.

TAP = Total Audi Performance. From when I researched them back in the day, I don't think they have a chip for an '01, so I didn't do any additional research on them.

While we're on the subject of "unknown" chips for the 2.8 30V, can anyone provide any feedback on Upsolute?? They claim similar power gains. I think they're a little better known in the VW community.

Well the OBsulute only cost 300, and its offering the same amount of horses as TAP, does anyone know anybody with a 30V that has used a chip besides GIAC and APR, and is there really increase in HP?

there are a couple of guys on this forum that have spent the money to chip their 30v's. They say that overall, it isnt much faster, but the low to mid end is more responsive.

Yeah, but i'm guessing all of those reviews are GIAC. Maybe these guys offer more bang for less buck? Although I'll admit I'm VERY skeptical of anyone who claims to have something better than Garrett...that's why i'm itching for some first-hand reviews.

I had a tap chip on my old 1.8t, i got it in 2000 i think.
Then i sold the car and got another one a put a giac chip in it,
honestyly i liked the tap chip more then the giac,
On the giac whenever i let off the gas i would feel almost like ther was slack in the drivetrain
But with the Tap i never had any problems, there a good company and have really good service
