Anybody have any suggestions when the TCM needs replacing? Have a 2003 A4 1.8T and dealer says the TCM needs replacing. Tip / suggestions welcome. Thanks

 

Why do they say that? What problems are you having?

Thanks 4 replying, the gear indicator light disappears and the car will only reverse @ idle speed also, the triptronic won't work until the lights come back on. After a few minutes, everything is fine. the car reverses and the triptronic works.

 

Could be bad transmission module. Find someone with a real vagcom and see if there are codes in the TCM.
