personally, i undid the bolt holding the downpipe, then loosend the exhaust sleeve and seperated the downpipe from the pipe leading to the mid muffler, then i pulled the cat and downpipe up into the engine bay, and performed some serious operation on those 3 bolts, the bolts connecting the cat to the downpipe shouldt move because on mine, they were welded on to the cat (the nuts, not the bolt) so that isnt a worry. you just have to become a wrist contortonist ( sp?) to get those things off.
