Default Test Pipe and CEL codes some help

P0422 - "catalyst efficiency low-bank 1" i did the non fouler trick with 2 short 1 drilled.
P0118 - "engine coolant temp sensor higher then expected"

Finally got a CEL about 150miles of driving after the test pipe install.. these are the codes.. any thoughts would be great! also once I get them fixed will the car clear the codes or do I need to have them cleared? Thanks!!!

Sort of tricky to keep from getting a CEL w/ a test pipe unless you are apr tuned w/ the test pipe file. I used 2 long non foulers and still get a cel every 300ish miles. I dont care though, it doesnt hinder your performance at all... Just a pretty CEL on the dash..I just clear it. The ects code, clear that and see if it comes back. Shouldnt be related to the tp though.

I almost forgot to add.. the P0422 code says
"the PCM has determined that the main catalyst efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. (bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1 while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)

I just got a crazy thought... I got 2 long foulers tonight and once the engine cools I'm going to switch.. So my crazy idea is I'm going to stack it like this (testpipe-shortfouler-longfouler-O2) but here is the crazy Idea.. what if I drill 2 very small holes on the sides of the long fouler? I don't know how that works with the pressure and whatever but would that help with the emissions?

That will just give you an exhaust leak. Forget that crazy idea. Bellow threshold indicates that the 02 sensor isnt seeing enough action. Try using just one long non fouler to get it a tad closer to the exhaust streamand see what happens. But youre probably just going to have to learn how to live with the occasional CEL. Vag Com would be a good investment.
Also
4 cyl engines only have one Bank. So any 02 sensor related fault code you get will always be "Bank 1". For a longitudinal mountedv6, bank 1 is the passanger side 3 cylinders and bank 2 is the drivers side 3 cylinders.

Good to know thanks... I think I'll try drilling out the size of the hole in the small fouler first just cause there isn't much closer I can get that I could think it would make a big dif.
