whats the diff. between the downpipe and the test pipe ?

and if you had to choose which one is better?

 

a test pipe connects to the turbo and then to the downpipe then to the exhaust. a testpipe also replaces your cat.

 

yup right after the turbo is the cat. it can be replaced with a testpipe. then after the testpipe is the downpipe. changing the downpipe prolly wont give you much gains, if any. getting a testpipe will give really nice gains, but its ilegal so if you have emissions in your state, your screwed

 

Psh.. theres always ways to get around the law. Thats what makes this country so great

 

just swap back before you go to emissions, then your fine

 

i went with the down pipe... but i dont think they do emissions test in south carolina. ill prolly get a test pipe later

 

^^unless you have airtools swapping out a test pipe ain't that easy. its a huge PITA to get at the cat->dp bolts on and off. the easiest way would be to just find a shady shop and pay them off to pass you. and you have a possibility of passing if they dont test your car under load w/ a testpipe

 

dont you have milltek exhaust? milltek comes with a new downpipe so why get another?

 

No dp with the b5 front trak milltek system.
