Is there anybody who likes "stock" lowers?
Nah thats cool dude...and you're definitely not the only person out there who likes the look of stock lowers, I'm sure plenty more will chime in. I plan on rattle-canning mine when I have a free weekend this summer. And by all means, if you're gonna do a job, do it right....but I'll bet if you put pictures of DIY lowers next to a picture of professionally done lowers, you wouldn't be able to pick out which one was DIY...just sayin DIY doesn't necessarily equate to "shoddy."
There is definitely a degree of conformity on this forum, but I wouldn't say it's just for the sake of conformity...sometimes everyone ends up getting the same thing because it looks hot, and that's fine...but eventually it gets played out.
Example: RS4 wheels on a B5. You betcha it looks good, thats why everyone has 'em....but now, EVERYONE has them. Which is why I got myself some B6 sport wheels...don't see too many of those

I kind of like the unpainted lowers espically on black cars, plus you dont have to worry about getting your paint chipped or scratched, thats the reason that they came from the factory I would assume. Mabey if I lived in florida or somewhere south, but not in Ohio w/ our shitty roads.
Hey I agree man, in a picture, the spray painted part (if done correctly) may look ok and be hard or impossible to distinguish from a prof. paint job. Hell in person side by side it might be somewhat difficult to tell the 2 apart. Will it last as long or be as durable as a prof. paint job? I dont really think so.
I used Dupli Color when i was 18 on my 97 Civic for a front lip, I did it correctly and it looked great. I am just surprised that so many people do that to their Audis. At the time I was embarrassed to tell people that I spray painted the lip, and that was on a crap box Civic.
Also, I agree that just because a look or idea is popular doesnt mean you cant or shouldnt do it, but its also not a reason to do it.
Thanks for the Feed Back Jazz

BadMajic --- Good point man, same goes for me in Mass. Sure its 102 Degrees(F) out right now, but I know that within a few months I will be "dashing through the snow"
I like stock lowers!
I like painted lowers MORE!
Avant you didnt strike a nerve, you were telling us how you feel, so i responded with how i felt about your feelings. Its just a conversation remember?? I love your thread you have going here. You didnt need to take such offense to my reply. As I said, if you do the prep work right, spray painting can be "the right way" especially if you are saving $300. Im guessing you dont have the desire/initiative to do things yourself because if a "professional" doesnt do it, its not "the right way." Guess what, I am a proffessional so dont **** with me bitch! haha just kidding....

I see enough A4s on the road with unpainted lowers, so there must be people who like them that way. Personally I find they completely destroy the look of the car (reminds me of every low end econo **** box), except with black where it works pretty well. I would never have bought my A4 new if it didn't have factory color matched lowers. When I added the door blades I took them to a really good body shop (where Audi's/BMW's/Mercs are the lowest end cars they usually work on - BTW, you'd be amazed how may people smash up their Ferraris, Porshes, Rolls, Astons, etc.) and had them shoot them with 3 coats of color and 3 coats of clear. It's what I want and I can afford it so that's what I did. I'm all for anyone personalizing their cars, no matter what they prefer to do. If everyone was the same as me that would be boring as hell.
On the subject of potentially controversial opinions, I find clear corners to be a complete waste of time/money/effort. If that's where you want to spend your money, then more power to you.

I agree with the fact that keep it orginal i was going to paint mine but then just threw the door blades on and it looks fine the way it is and not like everybody elses looks good both ways but there are other things you can do for that money

well.....1st reason people buy audi is not to change everything on the car like honda, they really like the car but after a while you kinda get tired of the same car.. it doesnt matter what it is...my brother in law just baught a merc E350 but he got tired of that and he likes to drive my car for a change and of course i dont mind driven the benz....its human nature we get tired of everything...we just want more...and thats why we change things on the cars to make it uniqe...
