theres this thing ontop of the air box that makes a loud ticking noise what is that? its got like a clip on it

 

Its the EVAP purge valve. It it connected to the "Y" hose. on the backside of your airbox.

 

its sitting on the actual air box, theres heaps of pictures of it on this forum im just curious what i does, its likea tiny box with a clip and a little tube comming from it...

 

Yeah and its supposed to tick too. That means is works.

 

Got a picture? It may be the ignition control module. Is if flat and bolted to the top of the box by two bolts? The ignition controller is known to fail and will display symptoms like a failed coil. Doe it look like this?

So I'm putting on my intake and I'm wondering if its ok to have that ignition control module "floating" in the air. in other words does it have to be bolted to something? it just seems like that metal to metat contact is there for something. thanks.

 

I'm guessing the metal to metal contact is for a heat sink to keep the controller cool.
