Hey all,

I used to float around on here looking for a B5 A4 or S4, now that I have had some time and made a lil more money, I'm looking to spend around 20-23k on a used B6 A4.

Here's the thing... I've been looking at all sorts of cars, BMW 540s, Merc C32 AMGs, all sorts of cars. Problem is, they aren't too common around here. Also, I checked consumer reports, and there were MANNNNNY 'black marks' for the A4... I'm worried about their reliability compared to some other Euro cars. What is the overall consensus with reliability concerning the B6 A4s? And what about the engine, if I plan to lightly modify it, (ECU, exhaust, intake), the 1.8 or the 3.0???? I want something faster than 6 seconds 0-60.... or around 6.5...

BTW, I'm coming from northern Indianapolis, and I currently drive a 97 Ford Exploder with AWD and a 5.0 V8.. hahaha

I'd recommend simply searching "new car", or "questions about A4", or Buying an Audi", or any combintation of those, because (not to be a dick) this question has been answered at least 10 times in the last week.

I am still searching as much as as possible. My problem with Consumer Reports' review remains, however. The Audi A4 has black marks all over it's history, up until 2005 or so! Any thoughts on de-bunking???
