Thinking of Trading my WRX for an A4?
Hi everyone this is my first post, i recently bought a 2006 WRX and have put a good amount of miles on the car. I love the car to death but the payments are starting to get me now that im done with college and am currently in a police academy. The payments of the WRX are way too much for me to handle at this stage of my life and still afford a decent living, so im thinking of selling the car that ive only owned for about 6 months. I think i can sell it and come out about even on it, i will ofcourse have lost money on it but getting rid of it now and saving so much money in payments is probably a very smart thing since i want to get a house after getting throught the academy. wow im really rambling on here so ill get to the point. In my area (DC) ive found some 2000 1.8t A4's for around 10-12k. I love my WRX's speed and would like a car to atleast be close to that and after reading many posts on the forums i see that the A4 1.8t can with not that much money be modded up to reach around the horsepower of my WRX.
So is that a good decision to go with an A4 with much, much lower payments and mod it up a little bit? Im looking for any advice that will help me with this decision, i will ofcourse want to get some wheels and some exterior mods if i go with the A4 just to make it look a little nicer, but i still dont think it will put me in the hole with money as much as my WRX is. Any advice is appreciated thanks.

An a4 1.8t with a chip should be about as fast as the wrx, if not a little faster. Now if you have an sti, youll have to get a turbo and and exhaust to be about as fast. But look on the bright side. The interior and features of the a4 are probably nicer than the wrx.
wrx still faster than an audi a4 with chip, if you want a car as fast as a wrx and trying to save money dont get an audi. If you can handle having a classier, slower car with much better handling and interior styling get the a4
I dunno how stiff suspensions are on wrx's but id say a normal audi might serve you better, ive been thru DC and someplaces can tear your car up. Audi is no wrx, understand that, but it has its qualities. A chipped a4 can be lots of fun, and if you get quattro and are driving in traffic thats all youll need, especially since your sitting in nice interior as well.

an audi is more of a luxurious car and i promise that they handle 100x better than any subaru. the interior has it beat by miles at a time and you have an audi, not a subaru. the styling is way nicer and way more sophisticated than a wrx..
theyre in two different classes, its hard to compare, its luxury sport vs teenage race car lol...
in the end, get a chipped 1.8 and some supporting mods along with nice suspension and rims/tires and you will never look back, i promise.

I raced a stock wrx (no sti) with my stock a4 last summer from stop light to stop light, and we were dead even.

I love A4's and am looking into purchasing one right now, but I am 100% positive a stock 2.8 A4, or a chipped 1.8T is nowhere near a stock wrx, STi is not even worth mentioning, stock sti's have seen high 12's .. *** NOT RAGGING ON A4'S, I LOVE THEM !! ***
