Default Tick tick tick tick

While idleling I noticed that the motor makes a small tick tick tick, like I would think the oil is low, but I checked the levels and all is well. It seems to run fine, good power, and there are no warning lights. Is this a problem or anything? Its a 99A4 1.8T.

I plan on posting pics this weekend. Thanks in advance

Put the car in Nuetral and set the parking break.. open the hood and crawl around look around and tell us where the sound is coming from.. that would help a lot!

if it's pretty faint, it's probably normal. audis and vws are known to 'tick'

Is it continious or only when the engine is cold.
I have a tick from the passenger side of the engine only for 3 mins when I start it in the morning and then its gone.

The EVAP purge valve right above the airbox towards the firewall will sometimes tick. It is connected to a Y piece of tubing that goes to some of the in-line check valves. Mine does it every once in a while. But the lifters would be a lot louder and normally goes away, after the car warms up and it would come from right where the engine is.
