Is there anything in the Air box from a 2000 atw 1.8t that would tick? i think my ticking is coming from my intake but I dont know what it is and its to dam cold out to tear the thing apart..

 

I get the same thing but i dont put much thought into it since the car runs like a champ and dont have no cell's. I would like to know what it is though.

 

dose yours increase with the RPM's mine dose and it only makes the noise once in a while, but if it makes it, it usually stay around for a while and makes the car sound like ****

 

No i dont notice it unless i open the hood.

 

what ever nine is increases with the RPM's and is very unconsistant but usually when i hear it while im driving and then open the hood i can hear that thing from the airbox ticking, every time i have someone around to rev the motor up it never freaking dose it..

 

could it be my evap system purge solenoid? wouldnt think the ticking from that would change

 

what about the cam chain tensioner.. anyone??

 

i had to replace the cam chain tensioner about 8 mo back. it did make a pretty good tickin sound. that that bad to replace i think w/ parts and labor it was $600.

 

was yours all the time or intermitant i really dont hear anything at idel
