Timing Belt?
2001 A4 2.8 L Quattro (wagon) with approx 98k miles. Driving and the car just died, and whole instrument panel of lights went on. Check engine lights, etc... Managed to pull over and start the car and it would excelerate and then just cruise until the engine would die. Haven't driven it since. Serpentine belt and water pump replaced about 2 years ago at dealer and no mention of timing belt replacement. Could this be the problem? Have I done damage by continuing to drive it when it died? Before this happened there was a squelching sound the wagon made upon a cold start once it would warm up the noise would stop. I think this was probably my warning. Any information/help from anyone with this same type of problem and the cost of having it repaired would be very much appreciated.
