I did not recieve service records with my car i would just like to know if there are any warning signs that your timing belt is going bad? can i hear, feel anything? Also there was some crazy site to get that tool for the trans. drain pug? can i pick that up anywhere i need to trans my tranny fluid? thanks

Timing belt, the belt may start to smell, (burnt rubber), but there are no obvious signs, the car just quits. Permanently.
Change it.

You message didn't mention your car or mileage.

Sometimes the garage will afix a sticker to the hood, radiator or front of belt cover with the date and mileage when the belt was changed. If you have the original manual, the name of the original dealership is often stamped in there. You can call them with the VIN and ask if they have any records of a timing belt change.

Nope. No signs at all when it goes. The pics from avant80@2.6 is awesome. Can't believe it was still running.

Regarding timing belt, if you have exhausted all avenues and cannot confirm it has been changed you better change it even if the belt looks good. It is just not worth the gamble if you are handy with tools.

If there are enough people in a special buy for Timing Belt Overhaul Kit I can put one together. I just need to know which kit is preferred - INA or SKF?
