I hate to back track, but it's necessary to avoid potentially damaging something major (read: valves or piston tops). Are you sparks removed or still in there? I usually already have mine out to help ease the turning of the crank. Also, is the car is neutral? If the trans is engaged in a gear, you MAY be turning against your input shaft. Your cam sprocket is easy to verify being correct. If the mark of the sprocket matches with the mark on the valve cover - you're okay. The assumption is that you were initially lined up on your marks prior to removing the belt. And that the crank pulley is not 180* out of phase. IF your marks on the cam and crank are correct, then there shouldn't be anything binding except what I covered. There's a VERY unlikely occurrence of your WP shaft/impeller being damaged and causing it to bind. Take your time and be patient.

Check and recheck all the connections. Especially for the plugs.
