i used those 2 write ups.... neither one is all that great, but it youu uuse both its pretty good.

I actually needed a little more than a gallon of coolant. so i'd get a gallon of unmixed and mix it yourself then you'll have some extra.

Timing belt
3- Accessory Belt
Tensioner
Water Pump w/gasket
Thermostat/ gasket
Idle roller
1 gallon G12 coolant
there are 3 front end motor seals also, i did 2 of them because to do the cam seal you have to take off the vavle cover to get it out so i didnt want to get into that.

total price including shipping for all of the parts $275 + $12 for a gallon of unmixed coolant

www.dieselgeek.com i believe is the website, if not just do a search under diesel geek on google.

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE ADDED POWER I HAVE NOW?? i was talking to a friend about it that just did a belt on his car a dodge [:-] and he said its the same with his and it because the new belt is tighter no delay its right there when u go to accelerate?

I'm going to guess it is the power of the mind at work. Changing your timing belt has no bearing on power. It is there to keep the valves open and closed when needed.

Don't forget fron engine seals while you are there. Adds 30 minutes max to the job

no there is definetly more power... and its not missing anymore...

what i'm thinking is that if the tensioner was maxxed out then the belt is streched at leas 1/2" maybe even a little more... and that could alter the timing just enough to make it miss.... there isnt a timing sensor on the cam and the crank... so there is 1/2" slack in there that is making it not run perfectly.

it pulls harder and smoother... and doesnt miss anymore

When my car had 25K mi. there was a CEL for cam. The dealer replaced the tensioner and reset the CEL. It has 80K mi now. I have not ha a CEL since. I believe there are top dead center sensors for the crank and cam. If the belt is slightly loose this CEL will appear.

Can someone tell me if these are the same instructions to follow for a 2.6 12V A4?

Do you live in Europe? I can't say with certainy, but the procedures for all of the engines timing belt replacement are similar. Once you have the bumper off and radiator removed it is obvious what needs to be done. Follow the instructions as a rough guide.

I live in the US. I found some instructions on changing the timing belt on the 2.8 at 12v.org. Does anyone know where to rent the two tools that are needed for the job? I found them on ebay for $90, but if I can rent them for cheaper that would be great.

Oh sorry, you said "2.6" in your original post. I rented mine from a friend on the 12V forum on audiworld. You could just buy the ebay tools and then sell them again.
