timing belt kit

Default timing belt kit

when and why should i get a new timing belt kit? Whats does it prevent and what will happen when i dont?
i have 50k miles on my car and its a 99

The timing belt should be changed around 70-80k. If your timing belt snaps the preset camshaft valve lifts will be off and the pistons will smash into the valves destroying the engine head or the pistons themselves. In other words your engine will be fvcked, and its $5000+ repair. Its not reallly the timing belt that goes bad its the rollers that seize therefore snapping the belt. The kit usually comes with a water pump. Its optional but might as well change the water pump while the front end is off.

so does a timing belt kit come with rollers ( i have no idea what rollers are)? or does a new belt help prevent the rollers going bad or something?

Yes it comes with rollers. Its the other way around, new rollers and belts should be installed at the same time. Timing belt kit options
