Default timing belt question

Hi guys, I am new to the forum. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any difference in using a dayco timing belt or a conitech timing belt? Does it matter which one I use? Also, has anyone bought the timing kits from ECStuning.com? I just bought a 2000 A4 1.8TQ with 61K. Just wondering which one I should get, the regular kit or the ultimate. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

As part of the welcome, I would like to introduce you to the search function which can answer many basic questions.

The Dayco belt is fine.

almost everyone buys the ECS kit. I bought the ultimate kit.
Might as well change everything, as the major cost is labor to access the area.

Get the ultimate timing belt kit. They give you everything you need to complete the job at a nice price. I did mine last month the kit worked great and in n6 hours my car was back together and ready to go. If you are planning on modding your car too while your in there replace the snub mount since it is right there.

get a new o-ring for where the water pump housing meets the engine block. it's the only thing missing from the ultimate kit from ecs.

Front engine seals (3) are a good idea. Again, you are there and replacing the part takes 10 minutes and costs about 10 dollars

SNUB MOUNT is very important..it will cut down on driveline shock and give you smoother shifts, and it's only 15 bucks from www.greedspeed.com (or 50 bucks at ecs or anywhere else)
