TIMING BELT SNAPPED at IDLE !!!!!
Today my timing belt snapped while the car was idling in the driveway.
I'm hoping that I will be OK since I was NOT driving the car.
I'm going to check compression (fingers crossed) and change it tomorrow.
Has this happened to anyone and if so how much, if any damage happened?????????

This after I chased an electrical problem around for a month and 1/2 ---ultimately having to replace entire engine wire harness amongst a few other pricey things.

wow that sux man. well wut u should do is take off the valve cover gasket and check if every is for sure ok. and when u change ur timing belt, get the water pump, thermostat and all the other mumbo jumbo. i would recommend new plugs too. be prepared for at least 3 days of work if this is ur first time
I've got help, so we'll have done in 1/2 a day. Unfortunately, it has to wait until tomorrow. BUT I want to get to it IMMEDIATELY.
In the meantime, I'm hoping to hear some good news from someone who's had it happen like this.

Well, don't count your chickens before they hatch. If you are religious, you should do some hard soul searching and make amends with God for any past transgressions. I've never done a timing belt, but I assume your cams are now out of alignment and you will need to make sure that everything is lined up correctly.
How many miles on your car when the belt went?
