Default Timing Belt Tools!? HELP!

I am getting ready to do the timing belt job on my 2.8 (62k miles). I REALLY dont want to spend the big bucks to buy the tools for the job (Camshaft bar and crank pin). Are there any alternatives? The guys at Autozone were clueless. Is there anyone who will lend me the stuff, or rent it to me at a reasonable rate?? I am in Iowa, but I wouldnt be opposed to paying for shipping in and out if it worked out that way.
Please help!

you could do the timing belt with out those tools
you just have to be carefull, the just hold the gears in place
the cam bar is if you going to take off the Camshaft gears
to do the Cam seals
the pin just holds the Carank at TDC @ number 1

I have a 1999.5 2.8L V6 (30V) - I have ordered the cam seals, but am now rethinking doing the job....how tough is it to remove the sprockets?

If you going to do the cam seals you going to need the locking bar
I havent done one myself but there dont seem to difficult
I think there is no key on the shaft thats why you need the Locing bar
coz the shafts might turn whn you tighting them up

If i was u bro i would take it to a local independnet shop and let them do it, its a tedios job. Ive installed turbos on these cars, and im not going to attempt a timing belt, even tho i know i can, its not worth it.

yea it took my mechanic a full day to do this. I think he was doing a few other things at the time but it was a pricey install.
