Timing Belt & Water Pump
the little trick is to take two diff color paint pens and mark the belt and teeth of the cam gears and the crank gear with the diff colors then you can count number of teeth between each mark working counter clockwise from the crank, transfer the number of teeth to the new timing belt and mark with appropriat color paint then realign the paint marks and tighten in back up. I've done this many times on many diff makes of car and on the audi, then affter its all tightend down, turn the engine over BY HAND. from the crank to make sure you don't have anything hitting, don't worry if the marks don't seem to line up affter you went and tuned it over, I can't remember how many times its got to tun back over to come back to where the paint mark line up but it a few I will try and get you some pics in the coming days depending on when I get my car back from the trany shop.
Ok, so I picked my car up today & drove it home as I am parking I pop hood open.
" Keep in mind I drove a LONG DISTANCE FROM SHOP to my House " about 20-30 Miles
My needle stood in the middle NEVER MOVED. Car did not overheat nor did smoke come out.
As I Look under hood, I notice my "Anti-Freeze Reservoir" (underneath there is a little thing that shoots down) It was leaking from there, it looked like a "cap" belong underneath it but there was no cap on it.
Could this be my problem? Could the shop be wrong?

If you remove the resivor cap you will see that the thing you refer to is just a drain for the overflow if the cap is leaking. easy fix, just get a newone at ECStuning. for like 15 bucks.
Jest,
In those instructions it says to disconnect battery. Do I have to do this? If so, will I need any codes to start it or will I have any problems starting car?

Make sure you have the cam holder tool and the crank holder tool. What can go wrong? EVERYTHING CAN GO WRONG! I couldn't imagine doing the timing belt job on my 12 valve without the holder tools. I borrowed them from a friend on the 12 valve forum on audiworld. It's not really a hard job, it's just time consuming really.
Here's some pics from when I did it:

This is Water Pump right?????

Which one am I buying this one????????
Also, I am having trouble understanding something. How is it that my "water pump" is making my car leak ???
Also why is it that my car is not overheating?
Or this one????????
Hi guys:
You can get the tools from http://www.zdmak.com/wbstore/main.as...242&CTMP=1
They sell just about any tools you need for Audi. You can get the cam tool (3243 for 12 valve) and the crank holder (3242 for any 2.8) for $100 bucks for both. Shipping is standard UPS ground service, though, which costs a low $10.00. I wish the sight had an option to ship it faster, but not.
Look, I'm a VW certified tech. If you have the cam tool and crank tool, you can get the timing correct, but you really should have some experience working with Audi. Audi and VW are like no other car. If you get the timing wrong, your engine will need to be rebuilt, plain and simple.
What year is the car?
