whoever gave you a quote of 365 was trying to stick it to you..in my city there is one of my buddies that will do the whole car every window you want whatever percent you want with a lifetime warranty on any discolor or and peeling or bubbles for 275 thats every window with high tech metallic film...then there is my other buddy that does the whole car whatever percent you want without the warranty but with the same film and is also guaranteed to come out with no bubbles or peeling or discoloring for 220......

I guess it depends on where you live. I got mine for $145 with a lifetime warranty. Anything over $200 is rip off IMO.

I found it to be done at $110.00 and thats just for the back sides and rear window. I would like the front sides done but the police around here will stop you for that if they get board. I just want it to all look the same front to back and still be legal.

If you want to try to do it yourself try the (pre-cut tints) just search on ebay. The hardest part is holding the tint up without kinking it IMO . Get a good squegee and use plenty of water in a spray bottle, also clean the windows spotless before you start. The lower the % the less light that come in or out, Go to dark and the cops will have you peeling them off in front of them.

If I had the patience/experienceto do it myself I would have... but I have never had either, so I have 2 experiences to share.

In November my GF paid $280 for my B6 Avant as a BDay gift, at Tint King in Billerica MA.

-Non-metallic tint (will not affect my in-glass Antenna)
-Lifetime warranty on peeling/fading/bubbles/cracking etc.
-20% in my back 5 windows (technically not legal, but looks factory)
-35% (legal in MA) in my front 2

I am VERY happy with the results. The guy I dealt with was extremely nice and genuine. When I went to pick up my car he noticed a blemish on my rear passenger window that I couldn’t even see, and he pulled it of and put on a new peice in like 15 minutes. I recommend Tint King to anyone with the money to pay to have it done right.

I paid $250 for my old Honda Civic (5 windows, sunroof and the top of the windshield) about 5 years ago at Curry Audio in Milford MA (they have an outside guy come in a do it...I found that out afterwards, I think he used to own Blue Magic in Milford MA and I think he still does the tinting for most of the shops around there).

-That tint looked great the entire time I owned the car (4 more years)
-I would recommend the guy who does it, though I would recommend NOT going through Curry Audio which has a bunch of punk kids with ridiculous ricer mentality and carsworking there. Seems more like an after-high school (by after high school I mean in place of going to college) hang out spot.

Though to have the tint done correctly it may cost a little more I think the results are worth it. My Avant looks likea different car. It is the only visual upgrade I have done and it looks so mean. Not to mention practical, I don’t really have a trunk so this offers a little more privacy. Also, the inside of the car stays a lot darker, I am sure that once summer hits mypleatherseats will not get so damned hot. I haven’t caught any heat from the Cops yet, but being an Audi Wagon, they may not even be looking at me.

I HAVE caught some S#@t for getting tint before chipping it (from the60 yr old Audi fanatic at work), but I am nervous about chipping a warranted vehicle (that’s another thread all-together)

So If you have a friend who is good at it, or if you have the patience/coordination/time to try it yourself, then I say go for it, but if you don’t have any of that and you just want to get it done, I would find the most reputable place near you and don’t be afraid to pay more than $200, though anything over $300 seem ridiculous.

I will post some before and after pics of the Avant maybe later tonight.

Just make sure that if you have an interior antenna (built into your windows), then don't get reflective/metallic tint because that will mess with the clairty of your radio frequency. Also, don't let the guys at the place talk to you into going too dark. Remember, they're going to show you what the tint looks like against a white wall, so make sure you know that it will look darker on your car if you have a darker interior. Also, I did 35% up front and 20% out back - don't go past 20% because it genuinely becomes hard to see. I'd do 35% up front and 20% in back - gives a sport look with refinement and class. Also, the percentages are how much light enters the car. So, a 35% tint allows 35% of outside light into the car.

its your own personally peference. My last ten cars i have owned all where tinted to 5% or darker and i have never had any problem with seeing out of them! my last ride had 2.5 % on the sides and the back and 30 % on the windsheild and no problem seeing. i just think if your goign to spend the money and take a chance at getting a ticket you should go as dark as you can go!! and it looks a lot better when its all black vs having somebody being able to look right into your car!
