Wow you guys have some really expensive tint shops around you. Around my area of mass we go to "The tint guy" hes a young kid that used to do all mobile tint out of the back of a truck at the drags and such like that. He now has a local shop, he does some of the best work I've ever seen. He did my windows on Friday I got %15 in the back and %35 up front because my town can be really strict about the tint. The whole thing only cost me $160, I have had friends do their own windows and they get bubbles and everything else I would never reccomend that, but to answer your first question don't worry about the cold it wont hurt it. Just when you get it done make sure you're windows stay up for about 2-3 days so it has a good amount to settle.
So I think I've found the place I'll take it to. It's Ziebart located in Fairfax, VA. Has anyone had any personal experience with them? I did have one last question though, they said that they cut around the 3rd brakelight since to pass inspection the brakelight needs to be clear. So think I should remove the brakelight before I go and then they will just tint the whole window and then I can deal with the inspection later on? Or should I just let it go and have them tint around the light?

i had my sides done in 15% and the windshield with 50% and a 5% strip and 5% back glass...
about $300 i think is what i paid.... depending where u are at, the tint will set better in heat... i wouldnt want tint on during the winter anyway... it makes it colder... i had mine done in winter and they had to redo the windshield but its tough to tint and it didnt set quite as well on the edges of the back glass where it has those black dots fading in.....
i would have it done by a pro, most places now use a computer cutter.. they just type in your car and it cuts the tint to the exact shape of your car.....perfectly straight lines, no glass at all and you have the option for brake light showing or tint over it too....
oh and look at my gallery pics if u wanna see

RE: Tinting Questions
+1 to all around 20%
I personally don't care for the brow, stock is fine... if you do it, keep it small (don't go past the tint marker on the windshield)
I got 20% all-round, should cost between $150-250 w/ warranty and good tint. $400.... that's just getting raped...

RE: Tinting Questions
Pricing depends where you live and the economy of the city pretty much! So anyways I paid $367.50 for all 7 windows, got it done today and it took them all day! They brought the car into the bay so it warms up, then once the car was warm they put on a bunch of protective stuff all around the car where they usually lean etc... so it protects my car from scratches, then they took all the door panels of and removed all the windows. Then they took the windows to this station and tinted them using an alcohol based solution so it doesent freeze and helps it cure faster! I got this stuff from 3M called HP (high performance) which has metal shielding or something and its guaranteed not to fade or interfear with any radio signals, blue tooth etc. I got the car back after about 7 hours of work and I do not regret it for a second! The car looks even better I went with 20% all around becuase 35% was too light and a waste of money IMO! I will post pictures tommorow

Anyway you might need to purchase one or two of those kits which comes out to about $100 plus the time in that day to do it and than the risk of it turning out real sh!tty...I had a friend do the same thing bubbles everywhere tint turned purple and after a year even more bubbles turned up!! So I rather pay a professional that took of my windows and did a great job!!! Than do it myself! I consider my car a nice one and I dont want to cheap out on something that is so easily noticed!!! AND I guarantee that you will have at least one little bubble in the DIY tint!!!! And because of that i went ahead and paid the amount I did, it all depends what city you live in and how well your economy is booming! Here is pretty damn good and my 04 a4 cost me about 15g's more than the ones that are selling in the states. SO I kinda like to keep the value of the car and treat it rightORIGINAL: pa4ul

I dropped my car off this morning. im paying 200$ for 20% all the way around with a small strip across the front windsheild. i left it their at nine and am picking it up at three. all be sure to post pics when i pic it up! that was the best qoute i got for my Avant.
and the reason that one guy paid 400$ is because they took his windows out so they wont peel. actually seems cheap when u think about taking all the windows out.
