Default tip-chips -- worth it?

So I have a manumatic tranny, pretty much, and I was wondering if the GIAC tiptronic chip was worth the $350 that it costs. Here's a link:

Any sort of feedback regarding tiptronic / manumatic shifting is welcome. Anybody have any experience using this chip?

I know the trans are totally different, but I love my TIP chip, it really crispens up the shifts, & they are a lot faster.

It's tiptronic, not manumatic. And yes, imo, a tip-chip is worth it. I just put one in about 3 weeks ago, and i love it. I picked mine up used for $225.

since it claims to remove lazy shifting, does it make the tranny run smoother?

I don't know what problems you are having with the transmission not being "smooth". It shortens the lags between shifts significantly on the B5 tiptronic.

I like mine.

Not worth it. Buy a car with a MANual transmission.

I'll just go ahead and give it a shot.

Now, since that tip-chip is GIAC, would it matter if my actual ECU was an APR chip? Because that's what I'm planning to go with.

No it doesnt.

Two totally seperate components. The tip chip only controls the shift points for the tranny ecu.
Didn't we go over this already?

Good luck, you're going to like it, its a whole different car with the chips in there.

Amen. You'll really like the tip-chip - it's just another one of those things that'll make driving your car just that more enjoyable. Even for those of us who "choose" *cough* (MrFlippant) todrive the tip.

You know what'd make driving your car REALLY enjoyable? That's right. I don't even have to say it. You know what it is. You don't have one.
