so i was driving home a few minutes ago, just goin the speed limit which is between 35 and 55...and after i traveled only about 15 miles and was five minutes from home my car wouldnt shift into 4th gear anymore. I tried doing it manually and it still didnt work..all i have are 1st 2nd and 3rd. What's the problem?

oh and i have a check engine light now, which i'm plannin to have autozone tell me what that's all about if you guys cant help.

also, when i turn the car on all of the gears light up on the little display!

 

nobody at all has any clue what's goin on? hmmm, aggitated.

 

it might be the k04, the tranny ECU goin crazy do high torque

 

ugh,,that makes things just awesome..the K04 has been in there for about 2 years and has done fine, but why would it be just the high gears?

 

so what do you think i should do?? reboot by disconnectin the battery?!

 

You are in tranny limp mode. Get the fault codes and post them. Could be a lot of things.

 

ugh,,there needs to be a 24 hr auto zone..i'll be back tomorrow.
now i have to travel 8 miles in third gear...lucky it's 35 the whole way

Im saying its hard to say what the problem is without having a fault code.

 

so just tinkering with it and seeing what rebooting the system would do is a bad thing?

 

when i went to my audi dealer to ask questions why my tip is not working, the first question the guy asked me is if the gears themselves were lit up or all the gears at one time were lit just like yours. so im guessing that it is a common thing and it can be fixed easily
