Default tiprtronic

hey guys, i am new to this forum and to audi, i had a 1989 silvia from japan and it was manual tranny and it was a bitch to drive, i was looking into getting an audi because audi looks sweet and i heard nothing but good things about it,
i was wondering about the 2001 Audi A4 1.8 T and the tiptronic tanny, is this a good car because i want my mom to be able to drive it and i want to take it for a ripp once in a while,
pros and cons would be very helpful about the car and the tiptronic tranny
thanks

2001 is a good year and i'm sure your mother will be happy with it. Try to get a certified pre-owned (CPO).

Ya the tiptronic is like no other. For the same tranny you have to look at other cars that are over the 50k mark. They're great but do not abuse them!

if you want some fun and some comfort, tip is the way to go. like panda said, you can just slide it into D and you got urself a regular tranny. then... when you wanna play boy-racer you pull it into tip. i love the concept, but the powerloss is hard to ignore. if (like you are) you are just lookin for a everyday car, that you rip once in a while (like most of us are.. but are in denile) and not looking for the best bang you can get out of your ride tip is an excellent choice. i havn't looked into tip that much, but i'm pretty sure the gearbox will eventually change the gears for you if you forget to shift...

If your not going to upgrade anything then the tip is the way to go if your not into the performance side of it. You cant modify it like the manual and you will have power loss. Also, Audis trips is nothing speical, there are alot of tips that are alot better.

No but you can put in a chip, DV, Exhaust.

Plus if you find the tip shifting a bit mushy, you can put in a tip-chip from GIAC to shorten the shift lag.
