tiprtronic
A tip can handle a K04 if you have a tip chip, but thats the max.
I drive in tip mode 99% of the time. I drive fairly aggressively and have lots of fun with it.
But then on the rare occasion I am eating, on the phone, and trying to drive at the same time, the D mode comes in handy.

It increases the fluid pressure of the tranny clutches. The clamping pressure is indeed what is required for it to maintain its health with K04. Makes it more robust in its ability to hold torque.
I should clarify - it does not allow it to hold more torque than stock, but it does prevent the extra slippage that will occur after you K04. Therefore preventing an early death of the tranny.
