Tiptronic or Manual??
Sold the VW a year ago...
I'm driving a 97 FORD Exploder (Explorer) right now. 5.0L V8 AWD. I want to drive it off a cliff....
Anyway, from what I've gathered, manual is easier to repair...
How is it for city driving, once you get used to it?

clutching so damn much... but thats a very small price to pay for the benefits. Ask someone like PandaXpress -
he'd love to have a manual gearbox. But from the sounds of it - it doesnt really matter to you too much.
you arent planning on doing some extreme mods for massive HP gains, are you? then to mee it sounds like
youd be fine w/ a Tip.
If you hade to ask for the benefits of the stick - well, youd prolly be fine w/ a Tip.
Dude, that's like asking a bunch of foxes if they should eat the chickens. This is def the wrong place to ask that question since like 90% of the members here enjoy modding their cars :P
Manual of course, specially if it's a fast car (like the s4)

Dude a you will be happy if you get a manual it doesnt take that much effort to become a good driver with a manual it just takes some time to get into where you can do everything second nature and not even have to think about it......
Yea, I'm 20, and I still don't know how to drive manual SAFLEY...
The last time I drove manual was a friend of mine's BMW 5 series, because my toyota got towed. I didn't even ask, and he was like, "You can borrow my 'other' beemer".
Needless to say, I suck at driving manual, and burned out every time from a dead stop, not even trying too.... I'm sure I could learn, but I do love my auto...

Well, either which way, I plan to mod it. Is mod'ing a tip car bad or more hard on the car than a manual?
If I got used to it, manual would be great.
Any other TIPTRONIC users wanna chime-in and give their opinion.
(Again, I am set on mod'ding my car. I'm just somewhat new to it)

bro get stick! dont do it to urself. striaght up n i got tip and trust it aint the same. okay tip i can switch gears too im sure ur sayn that but theres a 1.0sec delay in shfiting supposably b/w tip and stick plus stick is just so much fun to drive. i mean i just got my car less then a yr ago n im gunna trade for a stick a3 mind u if i got stick in the first place im preety sure i woulnt trade at all. so go with stick itll b the worst choice u ever make if u dont. and if u do get the s4 swap out turbos
thats one fats car. and if u mod ur tip a4 yes u will b a lilttle limited in terms of moding wen it come to gettn bigger turbos. im not sure any1 correct me but i think u cant go bigger then a k04

see my thereoy is always this...DD=automatic fun= manual(ALWAYS!). People say manual is more fun, and they are right, but for a city driver/ traffic auto makes more sense. If where you live or drive all the time has no traffic then auto will only ull the fun. but if you see tons of traffic like I do in the DC/balt metro area then auto makes sense. On the weekend on a sunny day Ill hop in the manual. But daily driving manula isnt that fun unless you decide to rip the car on a twisty road.
