Tiptronic or Manual??
Eh... I drive mostly city, plenty of long lines at uphill stopsigns, and I still love it. I've gotten so used to manual that when I had to drive my brother's car (auto), I pushed it up into N by accident (like a 2 to 1 downshift) and almost rolled backwards into someone. I also tend to slam on the brake with my left foot when I drive an auto because driving a stick it just second nature to me.
I'd get a manual, especially if you get an S4.

I havent owned a manual car in over a year and I still have those habits like pressing the clutch when coming to a stop.

Yea, I'm 20, and I still don't know how to drive manual SAFLEY...
The last time I drove manual was a friend of mine's BMW 5 series, because my toyota got towed. I didn't even ask, and he was like, "You can borrow my 'other' beemer".
Needless to say, I suck at driving manual, and burned out every time from a dead stop, not even trying too.... I'm sure I could learn, but I do love my auto...

What's wrong with some of you guys??? Can't drive manuals??? Geez...(just kidding, well..kinda kidding..haha). I learned on a stick when I was 15..my dad didn't want me in a situation where I had to drive someone's car in an emergency/being a designated driver and didn't know how.
Mine's a tip and I like it. I wanted the 6-speed manual, but the car was rare enough and hard enough to find as it is. So I weighed it out and said it wasn't worth passing up and waiting for a 6 speed after seeing the ultra-sports.
John...I think once you are better at driving the manual you'll realize you're worrying about nothing. Driving a stick in traffic/city isn't that big of a pain in the ***. The worst is when you're in Seattle or S.F. w/ all the huge hills and you roll back quick at a light b4 being able to engage into first gear. And that's not very hard once you try it.
Go for the MT.

if you don't want manual, don't get it.
i live in ny and having a manual would be a major pita.
once all audis become dsg, manual will really never be something i would ever even consider for a daily driver.
i have tip...love it.

toaster said it. if you commute in the city deffinately a tip. i have a stick, but i also live where i don't sit in traffic all day. and what sort of racing would you get into with it? if you do track, then as you get better at a stick you can rock the autos; if you like the 1/4, auto can get you a more consistent timed run.
go with the stick it all becomes second nature to u after a while.......well lets put it this way ive been drivin a stick for about 4yrs now and the only way ill get an auto is if my left leg is gone.....like the others have said when i get into my girlfriends care in tryin to shift it and hit the clutch all the time........just my opinion but go with the stick in the end you'lll be alot happier when u decide to mod it
get manual bro..
i just got mine 3 weeks ago, and I was had the same dilemma when I was at the dealer..
They had the same exact car, color, similar mileage...I was like WHAT DO i DO???
I just moved to Los Angeles last month from NYC and the traffic here is a killer!!!
3 weeks later, I'm still saying GO WITH THE MANUAL, IT'S FUN, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN FUN, AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE FUN

let me just make the point that there will be a lot more avid defenders of manual, then there will be of tip.
that's because tip is more "driver" oriented, and most of the people that drive stick are likely more "into the driving experience" than people who drive tip.
well, i drive tip and i am very much into driving my car hard. just because there aren't as many vocal people for tip, doesn't mean there aren't as many happy people with tip.
like i said, i have tip, and wouldn't want it any other way for my driving situation.
bottom line though: get what you want...just know that either way you should be satisfying yourself, not the majority of people who want to swing you one way or the other.
