toed in suspension from wreck
Hello there, I'm brand new with a 1998 a4 1.8t. I just picked this car up cause it'd been in a wreck in the front drivers corner and I figured I could fix it without too much problem. We'll see. I couldn't drive it back because the toe in was so severe but I noticed a bent rear lower a-arm so I changed both the rear lowers. Then I brought it to the alignment shop - they say they can't get it toed out enough because of frame issues but the frame shop says it's out 8 mills and it's not the problem. Frame peeps say it's the left knuckle but it has no cracks in the paint or sign of any bending that I can notice. I think it may have something to do with the rack cause of the severeness of the toe - around 9 degrees total. PS, both places have said that each side is out 4.5 degrees but when the steering wheel is straight the right wheel is straight and it looks like the left is 9 degrees out. Should I trust the sources I have or what? Plus, I don't want to start throwing parts at this for no reason. What can I check or measure to determine the bad parts?
